Technical Bulletin

Summary: Unable to file-trans using a GET-LIST.

ViaDuct 4.2

Symptom:

Known to occur with UniData release 5.1. When trying to do an import/export through ViaDuct using the GET-LIST type command in the item ids box an error is returned stating that the file couldn't be found.

Problem:

With the release of 5.1 a change occurred in how UniData interprets commands. When UniData sees a "-" in a command it automatically converts it to a ".". However when the GET-LIST command is executed from the File-Trans menu, ViaDuct looks straight at the VOC, bypassing the 'auto-interpretation' done by UniData. An error message will state something to the effect that the "GET-LIST is not on file".

Solution:

There are two solutions.

  1. Always use the GET.LIST command in UniData.
  2. Copy the entry for GET.LIST in the MD or VOC to GET-LIST.
