Summary: Creating icons for multiple ViaDuct sessions.
ViaDuct All
Symptom:
User copies a ViaDuct icon to create another session but when it is clicked the old session reappears.
Problem:
In order to have multiple sessions with Via Duct for Windows you must create multiple icons. Please follow these steps to create Via Duct icons for multiple session use. You cannot simply copy an icon as it will use the same setup as the original.
Solution:
A second icon is created by using the SAVE AS function in the Setup menu. The steps are as follows.
- Set up Via Duct as you would like it for your second icon. Change all of the communications, terminal types, colors, etc. as needed.
- Under the SETUP menu you will find the SAVE AS option. Click on that to start the save process.
- A box will appear with the title SAVE SETUP WITH ANOTHER NAME. At the top there will be an option to give the setup another name. Fill this in with a name that reflects something special about the configuration. For example if the icon is for a modem connection, a suggested setup name is MODEM. The idea is to find something specific to the connection.
- The next step is to click on the CREATE ICON IN PROGRAM MANAGER box. This will change the Icon Title, Also Change Window Title, and Group listings from gray to black and allow the information to be changed.
- Change the icon title to something specific about the connection. It is suggested that the Icon title be the same as the Setup Name.
- Make sure the box for ALSO CHANGE WINDOW TITLE has an X in it, if it does not then click on the box.
- The save process also requires that the Group in which to place the icon be specified. Use the scroll bar to find the group where the icon will reside. We suggest placing the icon in the Via Duct group.
- The final step is to click on the OK button. This will save the setup and afterwards the current title bar will have the new setup name. You will now have two icons available for Via Duct connections.
