Summary: Can't print selected text to printer using EDIT:COPY

ViaDuct 3.X

Symptom:

When attempting to print selected text with the Mark function under the Edit menu, Via Duct will not print this information to the printer sending only a blank page to the printer.

Problem:

In an effort to conform to Windows standards the Edit menu, like most Windows applications, is concerned only with the Clipboard, not the printer. To this end, Via Duct 2.1x’s menu sequence Capture:Printer, Capture:Select, and Capture:Copy Screen has no equivalent in Via Duct 3.0. The closest Via Duct 3.0x comes to this is Capture:Printer followed by a Capture:Snapshot which prints only the whole screen.

Solution:

For selective printing in Via Duct 3.0x, since some of our Via Duct 2.1x users still require this function, use the following procedure:

  1. In Via Duct, use Edit:Mark and then Edit:Copy which puts the required information onto the Clipboard.

  2. Open Notepad or Wordpad (depending on your version of Windows) and format the data as you require.

  3. Select File:Print to print out the information.
