Summary:  Error message stating, "Comcat.dll was unable to register itself in the system registry."

ViaDuct 4.x



Symptom:  

When installing or running ViaDuct an error message will appear that says, "Comcat.dll was unable to register itself in the system registry."

Problem:

This is a Windows error. More information on the error can be found at www.microsoft.com and completing a search on comcat.dll.

Because Windows was unable to register the driver, the user must force the driver into the system registry.

Solution:

It is recommended that only system administrators with in-depth knowledge of the system perform this procedure.

  1. Click Start, click Shut Down, click, Restart in MS-DOS mode, and then click OK.
  2. Type the following lines at the MS-DOS prompt, pressing ENTER after you type each line:where windows is the folder in which Microsoft Windows is installed.
  3. When Windows restarts, reinstall ViaDuct.
